FUE CT hair transplant
costs, prices and fees

A hair transplant is a medical procedure in which the price is not determined by the number of grafts alone. At Amsterdam Hair Institute, every FUE CT hair transplant is assessed individually and tailored on the basis of hair loss, donor capacity, hair structure, graft quality, the treatment area and long-term planning.

Within the FUE CT method, we look not only at how many grafts are placed, but also at the number of hairs per graft, the quality of the hair follicles, the natural hair direction, the distribution of density and the preservation of the donor area. This allows a higher visual hair density to be achieved in suitable cases with a responsible number of grafts.

Why is the price not determined by the number of grafts alone?

In hair transplantation, we often talk about the number of grafts. Within the FUE CT method, we look beyond graft numbers alone. One graft can contain a single hair, but also two, three or more hairs.

The number of hairs per graft directly influences the visual density of the final result. Within FUE CT, close attention is therefore paid to the ratio between single grafts, double grafts, triple grafts and multi-grafts.

Single grafts are particularly important for a soft, natural hairline. Multi-grafts can contribute to more volume and visual coverage in the zones behind the hairline, such as the frontal zone, the mid-scalp and the crown.

When the donor area contains a sufficient number of high-quality multi-grafts, it is possible in suitable cases to place a higher number of hairs with a responsible number of grafts. This can contribute to a better balance between cost, donor preservation and visible results.

THE RIGHT CHOICE

Treatment in the Netherlands or abroad?

A lower price abroad may seem appealing, but price is only one of the factors that determine the outcome. A hair transplant is a medical procedure with a result that remains visible for life. What counts in the long term is the quality of the diagnosis, the experience of the doctor, hygiene, and the recovery that follows.

We believe you should be able to make that decision well informed, wherever you choose to be treated. In our article, you can read what to look out for when choosing a clinic: from medical supervision and aftercare to who supports you if something goes wrong. This way, you can make a choice that suits not only today, but also your hair in the future.

The FUE CT extraction protocol and graft quality

Within FUE CT, extraction (the careful harvesting of hair follicles from the donor area) is carried out according to a personalised extraction protocol. The focus is not only on the number of grafts, but above all on the quality of the harvested hair follicles.

During treatment, the aim is to select high-quality grafts and, where possible, CT multi-grafts with several hairs per follicle. Attention is also paid to preserving the natural structure around the graft as far as possible.

Careful extraction and handling of the grafts can contribute to:

  • Preservation of graft quality
  • Support for graft survival
  • Gentler recovery of the donor area
  • More efficient use of the available donor hair
  • Higher visual coverage with a responsible number of grafts
  • Preservation of hair thickness and vitality

The outcome always remains dependent on personal factors such as donor capacity, hair quality, skin condition, hair structure, recovery response and aftercare.

Higher visual hair density with fewer grafts

Within the FUE CT method, the focus is not exclusively on the number of grafts transplanted, but on how many hairs those grafts can collectively yield and how they are distributed strategically.

This matters for the price assessment. In suitable cases, a treatment with a lower number of grafts can still provide strong visual coverage when the grafts are of good quality and contain several hairs. This allows the treatment area to be built up efficiently without placing unnecessary strain on the donor area.

For the client, this means that the value of the treatment is not based solely on the price per graft, but on the overall balance between graft quality, number of hairs, natural density, donor preservation and aftercare.

FACTORS

What factors influence the cost of a hair transplant?

The rates shown above are indicative prices. Because every client is unique, each FUE CT hair transplant is fully bespoke.

The final cost is determined by, among other things:

  • The number of grafts required
  • The density and quality of the donor area
  • The density and quality of the donor area
  • Hair thickness and hair structure; with fine hair, more grafts may be needed for optimal coverage
  • The percentage of multi-grafts in the donor area
  • The technical complexity of the treatment
  • Any corrective treatment following a previous hair transplant
  • Treatments for clients with Afro-textured hair, which require extra expertise and time because of the curved follicle structure
  • Hair transplants without shaving.

Price indication FUE CT

When can a price indication differ?

An online price indication can differ if, during the consultation, the actual hair situation turns out to be different from what was expected on the basis of photographs or earlier information.

This can occur, for example, with:

  • 01Corrective treatment following previous treatments at other clinics
  • 02Afro-textured or very curly hair
  • 03Hair transplants without shaving
  • 04Scar tissue
  • 05Limited donor capacity
  • 06A larger treatment area than expected
  • 07A fine hair structure requiring more grafts
  • 08Medical or skin-related factors.

Photographs can sometimes give a distorted impression. The final treatment, the number of grafts required and the final price are therefore always determined during a personal consultation at our clinic.

How is the final price determined?

During the consultation, our specialists assess, among other things, your hair loss, the quality of the donor area, hair structure, scalp condition, hair direction and your personal wishes.

On this basis, a treatment plan is drawn up to suit your hair situation. This takes into account what is medically responsible, what density is realistically achievable, and how the donor area can best be preserved in the long term.

The final price is therefore determined not by the number of grafts alone, but by the complete treatment plan.

FACTORS

What is included in the FUE CT treatment pathway?

An FUE CT hair transplant at Amsterdam Hair Institute involves more than the treatment day alone. The pathway includes analysis, planning, treatment and guidance during recovery.

During the check-ups, the condition of the scalp, the healing of the donor area, graft development and the progress of hair growth are assessed, among other things.

The treatment plan covers:

  • A personal hair and scalp analysis
  • Assessment of the donor area
  • Determining the required number of grafts
  • Hairline design and density planning
  • The FUE CT extraction protocol
  • Selection and distribution of graft types
  • Placement following the natural hair direction
  • Donor preservation and long-term planning
  • Aftercare according to the FUE CT guideline
  • 7 check-ups and guidance through to the final result

No routine use of chemical agents or hormone blockers

Amsterdam Hair Institute does not routinely use chemical hair growth stimulants or hormone blockers as a mandatory part of the treatment protocol. The focus is on a personal, biological and medical approach, in which your own hair, the quality of the donor area, graft quality and aftercare are central.

Where additional support is needed or desired, this is discussed per client on the basis of the medical situation, hair goals and expectations.

FACTORS

Why can FUE CT ultimately be financially more favourable?

A lower price per graft does not automatically mean a better treatment. When the focus is mainly on numbers, the donor area can be strained more heavily without a proportional improvement in visual density.

When a higher number of hairs can be transplanted using fewer grafts, the treatment can be structured more efficiently. This can ultimately be more financially beneficial for the client, as the assessment is not solely based on price per graft, but on the ratio of costs, quality, visible density, and preservation of donor capacity.

Within the FUE CT method, we look at the overall balance between:

  • Number of grafts
  • Number of hairs per graft
  • Graft quality
  • Donor preservation
  • Natural hair direction
  • Visual density
  • Recovery and aftercare
  • Long-term planning

“I had a hair transplant at Amsterdam Hair Institute in 2024. After the initial consultation and first contact, I immediately felt confident and good about it. During the actual procedure, I felt incredibly at ease, even though I found it quite nerve-wracking. During the aftercare process, I was closely monitored and always able to get answers to my questions. The end result is fantastic, which I am incredibly proud of, and I recommend it to anyone considering it. In any case, I am extremely happy with it and have already received many positive comments. Due to their consistently excellent customer service, pleasant and high-quality treatment, and remarkable end result, I gladly give Amsterdam Hair Institute 5 stars!!!”

“The very best clinic in the Netherlands. Don't come for the lowest price, but for the best result. I thought a treatment wouldn't make a difference for me anymore, as I was already quite bald, but now, 3 months later, I already have a hairline and hair again. That will only increase further. The treatments and aftercare service also contribute significantly to the result. I would recommend this clinic and this team to anyone.”

Frequently Asked Questions about FUE CT Hair Transplant Prices

All questions regarding prices and FUE CT hair transplantation

View all questions
Why do prices differ per client?

Each client has a different hair situation. The price depends on the number of grafts required, donor capacity, hair density, hair texture, treatment area, and technical complexity. Therefore, a treatment with the same number of grafts may still require a different plan or assessment.

An advantage of having a hair transplant later in life is that the pattern of hereditary hair loss has often become more predictable.

How many grafts do I need?

The number of grafts depends on the treatment area, the desired visual density, the quality of the donor area, and future hair development.

A hairline correction usually requires fewer grafts than treatment of the mid-scalp or crown. During the consultation, it is assessed how many grafts are medically and aesthetically appropriate.

Why does FUE CT look at multigrafts?

Multigrafts contain multiple hairs per hair follicle. As a result, they can contribute to more volume and greater visual coverage.

Within FUE hair transplants, single grafts are primarily used for a natural hairline and multigrafts are strategically deployed for density in the areas behind it.

Are the rates fixed prices?

The prices on this page are indicative guide prices. The final price can only be determined after an assessment of hair loss, donor area, hair structure, skin condition and treatment complexity.

Is a hair transplant covered by health insurance?

In most cases, a hair transplant is not covered by the basic health insurance, as it is usually considered a cosmetic treatment. In exceptional medical situations, conditions may vary per insurer.

Always check this in advance with your own health insurer.

Are there any hidden fees?

During the consultation, what falls within the treatment plan will be discussed. Any deviations, for example in repair surgeries, frizzy hair or treatment without shaving, will be discussed beforehand before the treatment plan is finalised.

Is a cheaper hair transplant always of lower quality?

Not always. The quality of a hair transplant is determined not only by the price, but by diagnosis, donor management, extraction, graft quality, hair direction, placement, aftercare and long-term strategy.

It is important to compare not only the price per graft, but also the overall quality of the treatment.
